Technology taking over..

My first thoughts as I read the article were was this guy serious. He spends that much time using technology that he has problems listening and conversing with his family. On average the article said he spend 12 hours a day on technology. I would say that spending that much time using technology sounds like Mr. Campbell may need to get a life. He was able to create a successful search engine and make a good bit of money so I can see that using technology may have helped him with his success. What really makes me question all of his technology use is the lack of time he spends with his family. Even his daughter was quoted jokingly stating how her father loves technology more than his family. I believe even for his children to have the thought in their head means that they think about that stuff and that it may have a larger affect on them during their lives. Their son had received a C in a class and he was scolded because he spent too much time and was too distracted by the technology. Where do you think he learned it? His father spending all the time with technology and being able to make a good amount of money may have let the son believe that not focusing on other things and only on technology will pay off in the long run.
The scientists doing studies on multitasking shows how hard it is for people to genuinely pay attention to something and retain information when they are focused on other things such a computer or a blackberry. I think it is sad that our society now has to worry about the focus  of students and professionals because of unnecessary distractions. People that surf the web and do other mundane tasks while at an important meeting are neglecting their job and the position they may hold at a certain meeting.
Overall I think people need to not rely so much on not being bored and using their technology to solve their boredom. I believe that we can make our lives easier with less distractions if we would just be able to put down our phones and electronics and just slow down. Yes I may seem old fashion but I can assure you that I am not at all. I love technology and I think it is very useful. When it gets in the way of us becoming better and more respectful people then I feel that something needs to be done.
