Research Topics

            The main topic that I would like to focus on when writing my research paper is medicine. I enjoy learning about the body and how it works. As an Athletic Training student, I am learning about all the injuries that can occur to the body and how rehabilitate an athlete back to good health. I have been in between two topics to write about and both have their strengths and weaknesses. The first topic could write about is how Athletic Trainers have impacted sports medicine over the last decade or so. I would like to see the number of injuries that have occurred since the presence of Athletic Trainers and so how injuries can be diagnosed easier. With the Athletic Trainers being able to help with rehabilitation, I also would like to see how number of reoccurring injuries has been affected. Whether they have been able to significantly reduce injuries from happening again would be a great way to show the ability of Athletic trainers. The second topic I am interested in is how technology has impacted medicine, not only in sports medicine but in all other medical fields. I have had a chance to learn more about replacements used in orthopedics and I would like to learn how they were invented and how they are made. Also with technology I would like to see how communication has helped the medical industry. Whether it is something that will continue to evolve with more advancement or is it something that is affecting it negatively. Of these two topics, I have been trying to decide which would be not only easier but more helpful to me as a student to write about.
